Default Help a noob overclock Q9300 - pure plagarism

In a similar manner to the Help a noob overclock Q6600 I want some help...

Q9300
Gigabyte P35-DS3L
4GB( 2 x2GB cheapo 6400 aria ram)
Haven't done much with voltage seems to hit wall at 2.81Ghz.

Stuck pci at 100 so not pci bus errors.

Suggestions? (quite happy but would prefer 3.00Ghz clock just to statisfic my usual Intel over clock expectations, my old e4200 went to 3.2Ghz easily, and e6300 @2950ish)
Seems to be motherbaord related..v2 iirc)

iirc the DS3L has six phase power regulators? (can you confirm/correct this) meaning it'll have limited overclock potential with quads.
What's most likely is that you're getting Vdroop under load so just try adding another 0.5V and see what happens, with an extra 0.5V you should be able to hit 3Ghz,
is your ram also running at/below stock?

keep your memory at as low as possible so you know it's definately 100% not the ram

I've always treated this with care as it was - at release - expensive so limited OC without too much additional voltage...dual cores are so much easier to ramp up. (and there seems to be so many more options for quads too...)

I hit the wall even with ram way clocked below (780 or so iirc) it's proper quoted spec so sure it's not ram, it used to go far higher with an e6300 (original 1.83 thing, mind it's getting old that ram...does that figure).
I upgraded both proc and m/b (not ram) at same time so not 100% if its m/b or CPR...99% it's cpu.

if you can post the options you have in your bios and the settings you have them set to it would make it alot easier to try and help you out m8.

couple of things tho, the p35 chipset isnt the best with 45nm quads, wolfdales and the older 65nm quads are cool but the 45nm chips are just harder to tweak.

you can get a gigabyte template from this link, you might need to remove some options tho if you dont have them in your bios, does the ctrl+F1 trick open any more up on your board?
