Mine too wl which is why I didn't understand the bloke saying 1.3 is the safest voltage :/ I felt that he was making it out that 1.3 is as high as he would go when i know for a fact that mines is happy & cool at more.
Obviously the lower the voltage the safer/cooler it is, most of these chips run very nicely over 1.4 though......scaremongers ![]() I ran my chip on stock at 1.15 or something low like that, I seem to remember 1.25 getting me to 3.0 & I had to go to 1.375 to get 3.6 stable. I might try for a bit more but :- A. I cant be bothered B. I don't have the time C. 3.6 runs everything I throw at it, sure it would be nice to have a little more (isnt it always) but other than E-Peening I don't think another .2 would make a huge difference. I wasn't saying anything about 1.325 chips, as I said I have one, I just didn't understand why someone would say 1.3 is a safe voltage when some vids are higher already :/

the main thing you want to keep in mind is your boards ability to supply the power to your chip, i have a feeling that once you get much above 1.35vcore your power regs will start to struggle.
heat wont be too much of an issue for your cpu under that blower at that level of voltage but for the mobos power regs its another story all together. if i was you i would set your ram 1:1 (267 in bios) and then set your fsb @ 400 and drop the multi to x8. that will have you running 3.2ghz with a nice boost in bandwidth all around from the fsb and you shouldnt need lots of voltage to keep it stable there either. |

I did exactly that for a while when I first overclocked, only after a week or two I got bored & had some spare time (rare for me) so I decided to try for 3.6, basically upping the multi to 9 with the fsb at 400 still.
Not all chips/boards are the same though so I would agree that starting with 3.2 is a great place to go at 400x8.

That may be a problem with my mobo as it will only allow me to set my ram to 667/800/1066 mhz and no timing changes either!! i think this may cause me problems down the line.

I think it has, it is some good ram:
http://www.patriotmem.com/products/d...&id=680&type=1 Got it off aria about a year ago for £30, 4gb. Bargain compared to ram prices at the moment. |

im sure others on here have had them doing 1000+ 5-5-5-15 on 2.1v so if you try running 400x8 on the 667 ratio that should have your ram about 1040 ish i think.
or you could drop the multi to x6 and start upping the fsb to see how high your ram will go. heres some links that might help you out tho ![]() http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...-core-2-a.html http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...ing-guide.html http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...rclocking.html http://www.clunk.org.uk/forums/overc...beginners.html http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...-voltages.html |

The clunk guide is very good, I'm dense & it made sense to me.
Mine likes the volts I cant get it over 800 with any less.....strangely it will do 800 or 1066 on 2.2 though Mind you at 800 the timings were tighter.

none of them are an easy read if your new to ocing but each has it good and bad points, on the whole tho clunks guides are the easiest to understand as he explains everything you need to know.
same goes for all the guides on there tbh, they are as good as they get. |
