Hello,
I have been following this site since I got my MeeBox NAS and have found it both interesting and useful. Thank you to all the contributors.
Everything was going so well!! The NAS function, FTP/SFTP, the MediaTomb functions were all working and I had Transmission working for torrents.
Then something happened, and it's all gone terribly wrong.
Details of the installation are as follows:
MeeBox MB202 with 2x2TB HDD installed
Firmware MB202.v1.24c-100603 - the latest from the LQOOS site
Disk Image v1.8B Rev 02112010
What do not now work are
can't see MeeBox in Windows Explorer, indeed can't see anything in the same workgroup I have a mixture of Win7 and one WinXP on my faithful old ThinkPad.
can't FTP/SFTP
none of the built in appls let me link to them
can't use Media Tomb becasue the Panasonic TV doesn't see the Server - a real loss because we like watching our collection of movies
The one thing that does work is Transmission for downloading torrents
Although I have been in IT for almost 40 years, I never needed Linux, so am a complete novice ( my Rasberry Pi is on order!!!!)
To get Transmission working I have to edit the rc file which I did using Windows and got the classic ^M problem. So my suspicion is that I have corrupted that file, and maybe others.
Is there a way to restore the original rc file which no matter how many Firmware reloads and Disk Image reloads persistently keeps the changes I made to autostart Transmission.
Any help and advice would be much appreciated.
Alan
Update:
After further testing, it looked as though the functions to Reset to Factory Settings and to Update Disk Image were not functioning properly. We have therefore concluded that the built-in firmware had been corrupted for some reason.
The unit has been replaced via an RMA and I'm looking forward to getting the new unit functioning properly. If you hear nothing then I shall have succeeded!!!!

Just for info, after resetting the meebox i had problems trying to access it with either the default password or my reset password, effectively i was locked out.
After several resets and head scratching i decided to remove the HDD's and try another reset bingo!! now in and working again. re-installed the HDD's reformatted happy days.

Hey guys. I see that all of you have got a meebox all setup now. I was wondering if anyone could send me a link to a setup cd image or files? I lost mine when I was moving back from uni since I was looking at it to see what to do an all.
Many thanks
Mra
PS It is the Meebox NAS not the Router.

Hi, Hope this thread is still open. Bought one of these from Aria and have only just managed to get around to getting it out of the box.
Installed a 1.5TB hard disk and understand that it's been formatted correctly in my Meebox Router however not entirely certain.
Anyway; as for installing the disk image what a disaster - spent several hours trying this now without avail.
Can someone confirm that the disk image is the one that's on the accompanying DVD (and that it does not need uncompressing) please?
Tried uploading the above disk image using Chrome and IE however upon clicking on the upload button after selecting the disk image (again assuming it's the correct one) the page cannot be loaded in the browser.
This webpage is not available
The connection to 192.168.1.28 was interrupted.
Here are some suggestions:
- Reload this webpage later.
- Check your Internet connection. Restart any router, modem, or other network devices you may be using.
- Add Google Chrome as a permitted program in your firewall's or antivirus software's settings. If it is already a permitted program, try deleting it from the list of permitted programs and adding it again.
- If you use a proxy server, check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. If you don't believe you should be using a proxy server, adjust your proxy settings: Go to Applications > System Preferences > Network > Advanced > Proxies and deselect any proxies that have been selected.
Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): The connection was reset.
Left the box unaccompanied for more than the 25-mins stated however in the system status page it still say's that the disk image is not installed.
Any help with this would be appreciated as would love to be able to use this device. Right now however it's of no use at all unfortunately.
Thank you.

Worth double checking it is formatted correctly first. When I got mine I initially had exactly the same issues and took me a while to realise I simply hadn't set the box (using advanced settings) to format my disk. After finding the format option in there, letting it do its stuff and then trying to install the image it worked fine. I think I had the image on the computer rather than trying to upload direct from the DVD, maybe even transferred it to the disk in the MeeBox, honestly can't remember for sure now though.
Hi MRA, try this i have just uploaded it but never tried one of these services before company called 4shared.
Meebox NAS disc image.

Thanks Mark for that!
I have downloaded it now but it doesnt want to install on the MeeBox! I dont have a clue what is causing that to be a pain in the *** really. May have to look back on other posts to find the cause.
Anyway thanks
Hi MRA, not sure it this will help but i have uploaded an ISO of the Meebox Disc
http://www.4shared.com/file/XkoQ5Elw...l?refurl=d1url
Thanks Mark. For some reason it wouldnt like to upload from my computer disk but from the iso it worked!? It's a weird box that every single one likes to do things a different way!
I just got one of the router boxes and like castman am using it just as a NAS drive. I added to HDD and realise I need to grant permissions because I tried to copy something to the drive and was told I did not have permission. But how?
I can't see any logical command that says grant admin permission (I only have and need one account) to move / copy / delete etc
Can someone give me some kind of step by step indication as to where I find what I need - thanks
What do you mean by "logical command"?
Such language isn't in keeping with the "Meebox interface" that you have been told to use.
So, have you logged into the Meebox interface?
http://meebox:8090/login.cgi
That works for me.
In Meebox settings:
>> Advanced settings
>>Home
>>Add user
Have you looked at the manual? Start at page 18 "Adding user accounts".
Also read page 34 "Managing users, groups, and shared folders".
Of course, you may also need to do Windowsey things.
