Default Looking to purchase gaming rig.

Got about £600-650 to spend, got advice to build my own gaming rig. But i have no clue on how to do this sort of thing, and i know nobody that builds them either.

So was looking around this site again and seen these 2 computers

    https://www.aria.co.uk/Systems/Gamin...roductId=48866

    or

    https://www.aria.co.uk/Systems/Gamin...roductId=48872

I was hoping to have a blu-ray drive added on to either one of them, (i can snuffle up more money)

Also i seen that this site that you can buy the parts and Aria can build them is this true?

Building your own can seem daunting, but do your research and you can save a fair bit... not only that, but you get to spend the cash on exactly the bits you need.

Aria can build custom spec's, but charge (iirc) £49 + Vat, so nearly 10% of your budget - that's a big cut for the budget you're on.

Those 2 systems are pretty good and not far off what the individual components would cost... do you need a copy of Win7 on top (students get a massive discount btw). How about a monitor/mouse/kbd?

If you want I can spec up a custom build, but it's only worth it if you're happy to research and build it yourself - with help from the forums ofc - or know someone who can help out.

A monitor would be purchased down the line, as i can use my tv atm, if i managed to get a decent rig for around that price i wouldn't mind paying the fee to build it up, and as for the mouse and that, i'd need to see what i have left with the money i have. have a try and see what u can come up with mate, i have not got a clue about anything like this.

The Vortex is the better out of the two, the Intel CPU is faster in gaming and the GTX 560 is also slightly faster than the 6870.

You can choose parts for a build and add a £50 build cost on top. Also, you can ammend any system up to 3 times before the £50 build charge is added AFAIK.

So if i wanted to add a Blu-Ray to any of the builds, it would cost 0? until i add another 2 parts?

As far as I know it'll only cost you the difference. Best thing to do is ring sales and ask there . Remember we're not staff. You could also change another 2 items before having to pay the build cost.

    How about this:
    https://www.aria.co.uk/WishList/26fT...HIPzbtHGr1QQ,,

    Total Price £620.11 Inc Delivery.

That has a better PowerSupply+Motherboard+CPU+Graphics card compared to the two systems mentioned in the OP. The motherboard included in the build above will allow you to overclock the CPU whereas with the pre built intel system you can't. I personally wouldn't touch BD, much better options out there.

Would it be worth swapping the Caviar Blue for a Black?

Performance wise yes, but atm the prices are high, £90 odd for a WD Black.

That looks decent cheers, think i decided to wait until around may 16th to purchase the machine, altho i think i can add another 200/250 to the list, what do u think could be an improvement wise on the machine u built? also was considering going for a blu ray drive, are they worth it on a computer?

I watch Blu ray on my pc as its in the bedroom, nice to watch films in bed, but generally I use my PS3 for blu ray films. All depends on where you watch your films
