Lightbulb Google Checkout is FREE to use at Aria. £3 surcharge now removed!

    Hi Guys,

Great news! Among many things we're looking to improve and add this year, one of those on the list is sorting out Google Checkout here at Aria.

Now we've had Google Checkout for years now but sometimes the postage amount would default to something crazy! Not only that, there may have been a £3 surcharge that made using Google Checkout a bit pointless as you'd be paying more shipping than you already do here! Bad!

We've now sorted the issues out, removed the surcharge and now Google Checkout is FREE to use!

Google Checkout is just as easy to use as PayPal. So long as you have your card details saved on your Google account (if you don't, it only takes 2 minutes!), you can pay for your goods here at Aria just by signing into your Google or Gmail account - enter your Gmail login & password, check the order, and click pay.. done! No need getting up out of your seat and finding your credit or debit card like normal.

Three major features which make Google Checkout so unique:

    • Firstly, with Google Checkout, all you need is one login everywhere. Any online store which features Google Checkout will divert you to their transaction pages every time you need pay for any purchases. That’s one page, one login and one easy way to pay.
    • Secondly, view your Order History from multiple stores on just one page. The Checkout will track all your orders and delivery information and keep it safe in just one place.
    • Finally, you can shop with confidence. Google’s fraud protection policy covers you, as customers, against unauthorised purchases made through Google Checkout.
    Happy shopping!

But aria checkout works fine and is probably better for aria(so lower prices later down the line)...

How does Google checkout affect consumer rights?

The usual advice is to use a credit card as the card provider is then a party to the transaction and has to step in if things go wrong.

This is one reason why people do not recommend PayPal, and why I always use a credit card.

The PayPal charge may get to the credit card eventually, but that does not make the card company responsible. And the suggestion that PayPal would side with anyone but PayPal is bizarre.

Eh? AFAIK using paypal doesn't remove your rights under the consumer credit act, but you can obviously file a claim with paypal as well as / instead of contacting the credit card company.

Situation with Google Checkout and consumer protection is (I guess, not an expert) almost certainly the same as for PayPal, they're very similar schemes really.

The possibility of PayPal is under constant review here at Aria, as has been said here more choice is good, we just have to make sure that it's a sensible option for us commercially and wouldn't require us to raise prices or anything.
