any advice would be helpful as most people on here seem to know a great deal more about computing that me,

Looks like it will be a great system!

The motherboard you have chosen already has 2x gigabit LAN built into it, so you wont need a network card.

Something like this would work fine for a wireless card

Good airflow through the case is important for cooling - no point in having a good cpu fan if it just blows hot air onto the cpu. Im not sure what fans this case comes with - it might be worth finding that out. If it doesnt come with any, I would look at buying a few to circulate air. If you want the fans to be quiet, invest in a fan controller - something like this. That way you can get a good balance between noise and cooling. As far as cpu cooling goes, I use that same one on my e6400 which is running at 2.4ghz, and it barely breaks a sweat, so I would think it would be ok

If you dont want to go DVI, the one of these monitors would be a good bet - with the graphics card you have chosen, I think you would need 1 dvi>vga adaptor too.

You are going to need a floppy drive to install your OS ( assuming its Windows )

The IDE Connection is actually a SATA/IDE Combo ( By JMicron ), you will need to install drivers from a floppy during Windows installation for it to see the CD !!
We could install one here, but should you need to reinstall you would be stuck.

Alternatively you could go for a SATA DVDRW, I think the Silicon Image chipset is supported by Windows, but don't quote me on that.

Infact looking back at your spec you have two IDE drives the AB9 will only support one IDE ( ATAPI )

in the reviews of this board, someone posted this:

Just to let any other prospective buyers know, this motherboard does NOT support a PATA HDD. That means if your hard drive is connected through an IDE cable it will not work with this motherboard, you will have to buy a SATA HDD, from Aria of course .

Other than that, this is a fantastic motherboard and works perfectly with my new Intel Core 2 Duo E6700.

    Thanks Aria =).

can you just clarify, cos it clearly says in the description that there is 1xIDE ?

The 1xIDE is for connection of optical drives.

    Yeap IDE ( ATAPI )

I should have writen Optical IDE drive, In my defense I only stuck ATAPI on as an after thought

To be honest I thought we had made it clear on the description that the IDE only supported Optical drives

btw it has 10 SATA , 9 internal and one external ( the external is a different type of connector tho )

    6 Intel RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 ,
    2 JMicron 0,1, 0+1, JBOD
    1 Silicon Image Internal
    1 Silicon Image External

Hey, have you bought the stuff already? If not i think you should consider changing the CPU (into a E6600) you can very easily overclockit and also buy PC6400 memory instaed of those (remember to match the processor speed).
    Good luck.
