The stock DVD drive in my desktop sounds like a hurricane filled with wasps and helicopters. If I actually used the drive even on a weekly basis I would consider a replacement but the thing sits sullen and unused![]()

Hi wayne was that an offer to me. Sorry hadnt seen it mate. Ended up buying a Sata dvdrw. Needed to make up the price to an order from a supplier so tagged it on there. Thanks for the offer though.

You can open it up and try to fix it yourself, or you can pick up a new sata one. Rom's aren't that expensive these days.
It would be fun to open and take a look if you could fix it. Maybe there's a plastic piece broken off the tray. I think that's possible.
