XP failed installation?
While I'm waiting for Customer Services to get back to me - wondered if the collective knowledge of the forums might be able to suggest something.
My shiney new computer arrived this morning
. Unpacking it and plugging it in to my monitor, keyboard and mouse, I began the completion of the windows xp installation (the oobe thing). Unfortunately, it didn't recognise my keyboard (I hadn't pushed it in all the way), and it didn't pick up on this when I did. With nothing else to do as I couldn't enter the windows serial key, I restarted the machine. I've done this at work when using USB mice which weren't recognised before and had no issues.
Unfortunately, now all it does is go to the windows loading screen, flash the blue screen of death, and restart. I've tried safe mode and it does the same thing.
Anything simple you guys can suggest while I'm waiting for a mail from customer services?

XP was preinstalled, this happened during the \"out of box experience\" bit where you setup users etc after the main install.

Yeah, as it was an Aria Build it would have been tested before shipping. so for now we can assume that the internal components ( and drivers ) are fine.
However it wouldn’t have been tested with the Keyboard/Mouse that was shipped, so it could be that.
To Narrow it Down I have suggested booting it without the keyboard ( as we know it wasn't blue screening until it was fully plugged in )

Booting sans keyboard and mouse didn't make a difference. And when I tried a reinstall of XP as also suggested it told me I had \"no drive detected\" for hard drive and a few seconds later gave me a stop error and bluescreened.
At least now I have a stop code:
0x00008e (0x000005, 0x8081a799, 0xf6fe78, 0x000000)
