    Default 1st time build

I need some advice on a budget gaming rig ime going to be ordering soon.
With a budget of around £300 I would like to be able to play some new games (mainly battlefield 2142) on medium to low settings with an ok frame rate. Also this will be my 1st build so all advice is welcome.

Looks like a reasonable spec for the price, i would however recommend the DDR3 version of the 7300gt as it is a MUCH MUCH better card and only cost £15 more, problem is Aria don't stock them, at least last time i checked they didn't (shame on you Aria :? ). Poke around the usual suspects and i am sure you will find them.

I think it would be worth it to try and go Socket 939 with this system.

    And get a AMD Athlon 64 3000+ or 3200+

Very good point as after looking into it it would only cost around £10 or so more to go 939 and the performance would be significanly better.

I would go AM2 socket to future proof. Socket 754 and 939 are on the way out now. Memory and cpu's will start to be in short supply. I know that DDR1 is about to be discontinued. At a later date if you want to upgrade to a faster processor or more memory it won't as easy as if you were AM2 socket as well as cheaper.
