    Subtotal : £850.65

    Total : £999.52 inc VAT

Ok the graphics card is out of stock, and no floppy drive, but unless you got something you use now that requires a floppy that you intend to use on the new one, you wont need it.

    Delivery is £12.00

    Grand total = £1011.52

Would be a real awesome system though......

Looking back you'd proberly better with some Corsair memory, theres been a few compatability issues with other memory such as OCZ and GSkill, but corsair has been thumbs up.

Core 2 Duo will deffo out perform AM2 in all aspects, and t31os is right about Corsair bing the \"least of a headache\".

Im my humble opinion though, with some tastey new conroe supporting chipsets around the corner from nVidia with SLi support, I would save a few more hundered and go for a sexy conroe SLi system... Im hearing good things about pairing two cheap *** 7900GS together

ive just bought an E6400, with some corsair XMS2 mem.. And actually, its literally just arrived. I'm gonna go sign for it, and then i'll let you know if it all works together a bit later on tonight when ive finished playing!

I also bought the freezer 7 pro cooler mentioned earlier - its an absolute beast of a fan - completely dwarfs the retail intel one!

Maxtor IS Seagate, Seagate bought them out, and personally I prefer Maxtor to any other HDD, espcially the great tools to diagnose a rare fault.

If I was spending the money, I wouldnt use anything but Kingston memory

I don't understand why people are slating Maxtor off either

I have had very few problems with Maxtors myself

And I used to send Faulty Products back to Supplier/Manufacture for a living

Seagate have purchased Maxtor you are correct. But Maxtor drives at the moment are still Maxtor's. And there still as dodgy as they have ever been.

    Kingston memory is crap.

Agreed, i've been working with pc's for a few years, and my mothers other half worked in the trade for years building PC's and doesnt suggest Kingston, me personally never had a problem, but rarely used it so not fair to make any assessment.

Corsair though, been faultless..... havnt found any incompatability issues with it yet.

Maxtor, yep i can echo that they have never been reliable for me and a handful of people that i know have used them, but thats not to say other brands dont have the same problem, its just been more apparent with maxtor drives lately, and word spreads quick on the web.

Seagate's 7200.10 drives are performing not far off raptor's at the moment, and don't have that \"failure rate\" tag maxtor seem to off picked up.

The system i specced wont need anything more then the card i specced unless he's gaming at 1600 x 1200 or over.

With directx10 around the corner, anything more is severely wasted unless you game at huge resolutions.

ok, i said id report back

I got the E6400, with a cheapo Asrock board and got Corsair XMS2 5400 ddr 2 memory. Its worked perfectly without a hitch.

The cpu is currently running at 2.4ghz and nothing is even breaking a sweat... least of all the temps! If you can go corsair, get it - you wont regret it

Ive never had a problem with maxtors either - maybe i'm just lucky?

Thanks a lot everybody for your views, I was scared to go away from AMD as I have been using them for years but you have twisted my arm and I have gone for pretty much what you advised, including the corsair memory.
Got aria to do the build cos im feeling lazy and they make all the wires pretty hope it does not take too long.

thanks again, also stupid quick question I currently have old system running ide drive can i just plug it in and move the files i have to my new sata, obviously not programs and operating system.

    Cheers
    Matt
