    Default Laptop Memory...

    Hey,

I bought 2 of these (Click Here) to go in my dads laptop as it was slow as anything so i looked at what kind of ram was already in there so i knew what to buy and they say "DDR333 CL2.5 PC2700"

So anyway i bought 2 of these (Click Here) and got them this morning, turn my dads laptop on its front, unscred the screws needed. Replaced the memory at the back. Then turn it back up right, removed the casing near the power button, removed the keyboard and then replaced the front ram.

Screwed it all back together and turned it on and its just a black screen??

Its says on another site that it supports 2GB MAX. (Here)

Guessing i need to update the bios?

Laptop memory, normal ddr, is a rip off these days, i got one of those for a mates lappy recently too. I couldn't believe that it was nearly £40 per GB. You can get 4GB of reasonable DDR2 for not much more, guess it goes to show older tech is becoming more and more of a false economy.

    I 100% agree with you.

£70 for 2GB of DDR ram

Could have got OCZ 2GB PC3-10666 Reaper HPC (2x1GB) for cheaper

Jon can you check to see if the price was right on the site as i mean £70 for 2GB of DDR not DDR2 but DDR ram is a ripoff

Its not just Aria, it seems to be the norm these days. Maybe hardware manufacturers are trying to price old tech out of the market.

as tech gets older its not made in the same quantaties so those who still make it can charge more as they have less compatition. i think macs comment has merit too.

i got 2 1bg sticks 2 years back for less than what 1gb goes for today, i sold 1 not so long back to a mate for what i paid for both. not great for him in truth but less than what it would of cost him from a shop, win:win

on the flip side i paid £180 for 2 1gb sticks of pc2 6400 around the same time then it dropped in price to a third of what i paid.

you win some you lose some.
