    Default New Computer

hi, ordered a comp last week, expecting it today or monday,
i dont know why i done it lol, do it every nine-ten months. But here we go:

    AMD 4600+ x2 am2
    Gigabyte GA-M59SLi-S5 Socket AM2
    OCZ 4GB DDR2 PC2-6400 / 800 (gold gamer extreme)
    2x 7950gx2's
    700w powersupply

and alot of money i wish i didnt spend on g7 mouse + keyboard to go. 17\" monitor when i got 19\" already :S and sound card.

i think i should have got the amd fx62 instead, wish aria sold the 5000+ x2 am2 that would be my first choice for price.

apparently this 4gb ram clashes with windows xp home, so they only sending 2gb now. then they say the rams not compatible with mobo.

so lets prey it comes by monday hehehe.

Keep the monitors you could have a nice multimonitor setup good for playing \"uplink\" to those of you who know what it is

As for the cpu choice- thats purely down to what you want to be doing on it...

Personally i use cheap KB and mouse equipment (well keyboard anyway..) because it takes a battering with my typing... heavy handed... ops:

this Saitek one was about £4 from aria and its still going strong there are RAM issues with XP - remember XP came out in 2001 - since then hardware has gone on a hell of a lot... and according to some people OCZ is not the most compatible but ive never used so ill keep buttoned on that one...

other than that it looks a decent setup- but i wont say that because its an AMD

Unless you are going to be running stupily high resolutions ie in the region of 2560x1600 on some massive 30\" tft then the 2x7950gx2's are going to be a complete waste of time also have you checked to see if the mobo is compatible with 7950's (not all are) and / or quad sli?. The rest looks good to me.

yes the mobo is on the quad sli compatible list
and i picked amd because ive always stuck to it lol. i would have the x6800 intel if i wanted power.
im still waiting to see this new amd coming out next year. rumours suggest its x4 core? not knowing if this is true. but lets hope for the best.

i read in other posts people are concerned the 7950gx2's dont run with dx10 but posts and benchmarks ive read suggest that the 7950gx2's dont run well on dx9 and work better on vista.

down to the ram, i wish aria had the new corsiar ram (Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8888C4 TwinX ).
well this computer will do for the next 10 months. then ill see what is the new gear out then

There aren't any DX10 graphics cards out at the moment, 7950GX2's are basically 2x 7900GTX cores on a single card, hence the quad sli being needed.

DX10 graphics cards are supposed to be coming out sometime early next year.

AMD arent the only ones doing 4 cores also.. Intel have a nice looking one - aparently similar architecture to the core duo 2s... so basically two Core Duos running simultaneously... wow imagine if intel put 2 Core duos in a server mobo?

Or even 2 - 4 core processors ?? i wonder if they will bother with Hyper Threading after this... ?? i think they should

The new amd could either be 3-4 or even more! Their website says:

Its not fully telling, but give you the hint, also the new chips are likely to be made using 45nm technology.
