I'll use the best browser I can find, so I'll give chrome a try. If its better than firefox then I'll use it.
My first 5 minute impression is that its very good. I'm going to use it for a few days and see what its really like.
One thing I do miss already is my firefox noscript pluginand the spellchecker wont let you add words to the dictionary.

dust hasnt even settled and people are off knocking it
There not really knocking it, there just mentioning the issues with the BETA, obviously there are gonna be issues and its there first shot at a browser.
I cant wait to see it in its alpha form
EDIT: Although i must say that most other google software "google desktop and toolbar" are a pain in the ***
correct me if i'm wrong but alpha comes before beta??
Oh yeahyou know what i meant fool!!!
It looks promising... but try opening several tabs - you get number of tabs+1 instances of chrome.exe processes...
Right now it looks like a simple version of firefox, with a better architecture (one tab hanging wont crash the browser, mucho useful) you can also use the task manager inbuilt to see which sites are using most memory etc.
In all, some nice gimmicks and marketing, but I can't yet see any reason to use it over firefox... the 1 in 1000 times my firefox crashes, it just opens the tabs straight back up again. Lets see how it developes.
As for internet explorer vs firefox vs chrome... I'd guess that IE won't lose market share to chrome, rather that firefox will. Those who are still using IE clearly haven't even found the more mainstream firefox yet, how likely are they to find chrome (although it's on the google site, it's hardly big news unless you read the blogs)... rather they're targetting it at nerds and developers, think the same people who use firefox with firebug extension.

Im gonna install it later just to check it out but then remove it, im not a fan of having BETA software on my computer.
Just curious as to what theyve come up with
The process per tab is deliberate to offer more isolation and stability. One tab crashes ? The browser wont.
As they say, Chrome wasn't built in a day...
groan
I have 20+ tabs open at once on firefox, I wouldn't like to have 20+ processes slowing my pc down
Also when a single tab does crash, it you manually right click on mozilla on bottom taskbar and force it to close - when you reopen it remembers all your tabs. You can then continue as before, closing problem tab if need be.
ALSO google is well known for having full access to your gmail accounts and NEVER deletes any of your mails regardless of you putting your entire inbox in the trashcan. They would no doubt record EVERY site you go on and keep the records forever with SPY CHROME!
nice photoshop there![]()
