Default Virgin Media Targets P2P Crackdown

I am not losing weight! I'm getting rid of it. I have no intention of finding it again!

Its not exactly true. The big 4 ISP's have been in talks with the BPI and the IFPI, so its not just Virgin Media. The ISP's are reluctant due to recent European Union rulings against anti piracy organizations that have ruled in favour of the privacy of file sharers, and its pretty clear that by entering into any such agreement with the BPI, they may be leaving themselves open for legal action by users in the European courts. The courts decided in a recent case (iirc) against Telefonica, that it was not the ISP's responsability to monitor the activities of their users for filesharing activities and that it was unreasonable to expect them to do so. The ruling stated that ISP's were only required to hand over details of users who were suspected to be involved in criminal activities and as filesharing is nothing more than a civil matter, it did not apply, and the details of users were not to be disclosed.
