Core i7 2600k Socket 1155 Best budget cooler?

Im running 2600k at 4.0GHZ I plan to run it at 4.5GHZ at 1.35volts, it does that easy but runs a little to hot with stock cooler. Can anybody recommend a good after market cooler that wouldn't require removing the motherboard to fit? A cooler that just clips in like the stock cooler would be ideal..

if you want to overclock, you should go for a better cooler - good cooler == heavier cooler == backplate. It depends on you case, but if you have a cutout for a backplate, then you won't have to remove the motherboard. I'd recommend the noctua nh-d14 - but it requires a backplate

That case looks awesome, im using antec 900 ultimate gamer case, doesn't have easy access to the back of motherboard. Really don't want the hassle of taking it all apart again and rebuilding.

If there isn't a good push in fan, maybe i'll have to just take it apart? Grrr lol.

Thanks for the links, yeah I figure if I have to take out the motherboard to fit an air cooler I might as well go for a cooler that does a good job, The Corsair h50 while not as good as proper water coolers, does keep cpu's very cool from reviews and has the benefit of being quiet, Plus I hate how dusty air coolers can get, with H50 would eliminate that problem.

Anyways I have accepted that I might have to take out motherboard to fit any fan and so far this is the cooler I am going wit,Coolit ECO ALCh

found these for around £50 would this Coolit ECO ALCh perform as good as top end air coolers?

After looking at different reviews the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus is pretty decent, its about half the price of the water coolers aswell, think might grab one of them. Should be good for 4.5ghz, im at 4.2ghz now on the stock cooler but temps are a bit high. Thanks for the links

Heres my idle temps, at full load (4.2GHZ) in prime 95 it approaches high 70's. With decent cooler should be good for 4.5GHZ 24/7.

Just make sure it'll fit, because it is RATHER LARGE!

Mate, trust me, get yourself a decent cooler, it will last you through several builds and will save you a lot of ball-aches.

The 2600K can run hot when overclocked and when HT is left enabled, so I recommend something like this.

It will cool better than the H50 you linked to, and better than all the air coolers you linked to as well. You only need a single fan on it too, the Thermalright 120mm fans are actually very good, very quiet and fairly cheap too.

The pic you attached is for idle temps. They are pretty good. But if you get around 70c on full load then u need a new cooler.

got it in my machine and its a great cooler at an even better price !

all depends on budget tho!
if u wanna spend <£30 then the hyper 212+ is a very good choice.
if ur happy spending £40-£50 then there is better that u can get !

Yeah I ordered the hyper 212+, its got very good reviews everywhere and seems to be the best performing in its price range unless you pay twice as much. Think it will be fine with sandybridge, as it runs cool anyway, should be able to go 4.5GHZ 24/7. Just got to wait for it to get here now, not looking forward to taking my rig apart again though lol

Like Clunk says though, the Venomous X is tremendous and leagues ahead of most other coolers.
