Quad SLi setup

I'm looking to build a new computer with twin SLi 7950GX2s and a Physx card. I was looking at getting the ASUS M2N32, but in the manual for that board it suggests that it isn't compatible with Quad sli, so does that mean I need to get the slightly more expensive ASUS Crosshair? and if I do will there be a spare PCI slot for the Physx card?

Personally, I don't see what the need to build that system is. You've got to ask yourself, do you really need 2x 7950 GX2's? Even 1 is too much if you ask me.

Imo, SLi or whatever is a waste of £. There will always be a single solution the way I see it and it's just marketing to get you to waste tons of cash. In most cases, people buy 2 top end cards. In actual fact, what you're doing is throwing away 2x the amount of money because by the time those 2 cards are being used to their full potential, you could get 1 top end card for less.

You could either:

1. Spend the extra on something worthwhile like a better CPU, more RAM, a sound card

2. Save it

3. Give it to charity

But some build these system to be one up on their mates.

The only game that probably needs a system like that if you play oblivion, outdoors kills graphic cards perfomance. Physx card, how many games will benefit from it. It also puts a strain on the cpu resourses.

You haven't mentioned cpu what amd you are looking at. Go for intel core 2 duo and get more performance for less money. Spending money on low latency memory is not as good as more memory. The system increase from low latency memory is not all its cracked up to be, very tiny.

If you build the system make sure you use a decent power supply like OCZ gamexstream 700W power supply.

Need is a strong word, but in some cases you really do need this kind of horsepower.
Your disregarding the people with the 30\" or even the 24\" (the one I have, *cough*) widescreen TFTs - which run CRAZY resolutions, on games like F.E.A.R you really do need Quad SLi to get the frames with things like AA and AAF cranked to the maximum.
Unless your running these kind of resolutions you just don't need quad SLi - even if you do with DirectX 10 on the horizon it can still be hard to justify.
If money is no object to you, sure, go and buy them right now! Otherwise, be a little more conservative and wait until DirectX 10 comes along.
Not only that, the drivers for QuadSLi are still a little shaky as it stands :roll:

It won't be able to run them at all
They'd need to be ported to DirectX 9.
