    Default Jumbo Frames

My new Gigabit Switch has just arrived

Now I have configured Jumbo frames on my MSI P35-Neo2-Fr with no problems, I have also managed to complete the same on the wifes Dell.

Now the problem I have, is there is no Jumbo frames option on my DC server for jumbo frames!

Its using the onboard Gigabit port on the Asrock 939N68PV-GLAN motherboard (Nvidia 7050/630a Chipset).

Now the Asrock web site states that it is a Realtek RTL8112B, Windows shows it as Nvidia NForce controller.

I have searched both the general net and Realtek's web site and cannot find the drivers so I am assuming that the RTL8112B is just a phy.

any ideas IF i can get this thing to supprot Jumbo frames?

BTW I have Contact ASrock, I am awaiting their reply just being a little impatient.

time to resurect this very very old thread!

Having just moved all my systems about (no longer using the Asrock board as my server board) I now had the option to enable the mysterious and wonderful jumbo frqames option on all the devices connected to my Gigabit switch.

well the I thought ok lets set every thing to 9k MTU... this resulted in an instant fail as the one board (P35 Neo2-Fr) under Win7RTM only supports a maximum of 7K .

ok so the next highest common denominator is 4K. so I have set everything to 4K MTU and run a few file transfers.

From my newly rebuilt Win2003 server to my Main PC I am now getting between 85 and 120MB/s compared to 35-50MB/s before hand

I know there is a certain amount of memory caching going on but the speed inprovement is very noticable.
I am not losing weight! I'm getting rid of it. I have no intention of finding it again!

Growing old is inevitable. Growing up is optional
