Default box 360, Networking, Syncing.. Allsorts, Just a quick run by

Not too sure if it goes here, but...

By the end of christmas I want my own media hub, so I my videos, my other videos and my music all synced through all of my hardware. Well this is an image of what im trying to get at:

So, could I have a usb hub type thing, plugged into my drive, then splitting off into 2 cables one into the pc and one into the xbox.. or would I have to buy an RJ45 and basically a network drive?

As I understand it a USB hub extends the number of USB ports the device it is connected to has. I don't think it is intended for networking.

Where you have written 'internet' how about putting 'router' > 'internet' and connecting the Media drive to the router if it can do it by RJ45.

This would allow all your devices to connect to your media drive via the router and access the internet. You would need a router with a 4 port hub built in. You might even be able to get a router which has a USB hub of some sort, if the media drive can't do RJ45.

The other alternative is to connect the media drive to your pc via usb and then set the pc up to share it on your routers network. This is a bit clumsy though because all requests would have to go via the router then to the pc, then to the drive. If you can manage some sort of router setup then that would work best.

What is it your trying to acheive with the USB hub?

Is that for holding all your media files? Also what o/s are you using because you can just add the 360 as a media extender and stream from the pc anyway without the need to connect a usb device to the 360.

Access all my files from my external hardrive on my 360 and pc, which are both connected to the TV and my router/internet, aswell as the wii, which really doesn't need to come into the equation

If you have media player 11 installed then yes you would be able to add the 360 in media player and stream your music, videos & pics to the 360 from the pc.

IF you have a pendrive with music on, you can use that on your 360, or just plug in your ipod and play any unprotected songs on there, and everythings comes up in the itunes folder layout too
