Not too wise to post your security software on an open forum... each AV has it's own weaknesses, so there could be malicious people out there watching and would know what your \"PC's\" weak points are.

However, i use NOD32 on my laptop and McAfee on my Desktop (wont say which versions...).

EDIT: phpBB forums are easy to get into for an experienced hacker.

AVG overall is probably \"one of the best\"...It's free and yet still manages to rival those at the top (which cost).

im a NOD32 user - use it on 5 machines at home =) its fast on laptop, my gaming machine and 2 moderately quick servers, has very small footprint in memory, has high detection rates(best tested, but cant rem who did the tests) also it has updates very very often, mine checks every 1 hour, and more often than not it has an update... does spyware too

    Cant complain

    Grisoft AVG Free Edition.

I've tried F-Prot in 2004/2005 which seemed ok. Low on resources but the interface wasn't very good. I also tried Kaspersky and it seemed to pick up a lot of things but I've read that it's the kind of anti virus software that's too protective. It either posted false reports or malware which I have seperate programs for.

AVG seems to get very good scores, if not the best for 'In the Wild' viruses. Can't complain. Great user interface, rock bottom resources (including Windows 98 users, older computers in general)

Avast is supposed to be popular but used to take up a lot of resources and hang my current Windows 98 machine when I tried it in 2005. On an XP build, there shouldn't be problems though, but for 98 users, you really are hard pressed to find an anti virus solution that won't affect your pc's performance, speed-wise and stability-wise. That's where AVG comes in.

There's no point in buying the full version of AVG. You get technical support and advanced scheduling utilities but I don't think most people need that! 10/10

A person who uses Norton or Mcafee has lost all respect from me.
