hello people
long shot here, but hoping somebody may have some experience...
i have got a dsl / cable vpn router that i was hoping to use as a remote access tunnel. should work but my setup is nat-nat as i have an adsl connection. so i have adsl modem router connected to net (nat on) on the same network as the vpns wan port. vpn lan side on same network as machines, nat on. internet access is sound but i want to come in from outside.
so
i have read set adsl modem to half-bridge mode, supply with public ip (skip a nat) and all should be good.
so
i connect via ethernet to adsl modem. ipconfig shows 10.0.0.7, gateway 10.0.0.2. no good. enable half-bridge mode. ipconfig shows 80.x.y.z, gateway, 80.x.y.z+1. at this point im rubbing my hands... mistake.
wan in vpn router to half-bridged modem via ethernet. vpn set to obtain ip auto. status page in vpn router shows all same info as ipconfig ip: 80.x.y.z, gateway:80.x.y.z+1. modem will not forward anything from the router but had no problem forwarding from the pc... dns seems to be all good...
this is starting to really annoy me!!!!!
btw, tried vpn router set as dmz from adsl modem for tunnel but not a happening deal!
anybody any joy with this kind of setup and if so, what was your hardware?
