If you can stretch to just over £60 then the 7600gt is within reach, if not go for a 7300gt though it MUST be a DDR3 version as the non DDR3 versions are vastly inferior.

thanks for the advice looks like im going to go with the 7300gt as it looks like it will do all i need it to do.Is there any cables i need to go with the graphics card? maybe dvi to component or will there be no difference from using DVI to VGA?
thanks again
sean
Nope everything you need should be supplied iirc cards that are dual dvi come with a dvi to 15pin vga convertor so it should plug straight into your existing setup if needed.
One thing though is your x300 pcie or agp? Sorry i just automatically assumed it was pcie hence the recommendation.

yes my mobo is PCI-E so thats not a problem. ok then thanks for all the help!!
finally got around to installing the graphics card into my desktop and its all working well.however just got a couple of queries which are related so i thought i would add them here rather than start a new thread.
The 7300GT is dual DVI output. My HDTV doesnt have DVI as an input, the remaining options i have for input are either VGA, Composite or S-Video. I still wish to have my sound played through my computers surround sound, so could anyone recommend the best cable to buy?Im currently using a DVI to vga dongle... a bit messy to say the least.
The other question i have relates to a wireless keyboard and mouse, as im getting lazy i reeli am after a wireless keyboard and mouse for using with my computer. I have seen wireless keyboards with a built in touchpad. Is this any better than having a seperate mouse and keyboard. Just after peoples thoughts really.
anyways this has taken me ages to type out so i will shut up before you all fall asleep![]()
cheers sean

i personally can't stand touchpads, they make doing even simple stuff so much slower.
Current Setup
--------------------
Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 @ 2.2ghz
2GB Elixir PC6400 DDR2 Dual Channel
Asus Gforce 512mb Silent GFX
250GB Seagate SATA HD
well mostly i will be using my wireless kit on my bed and i didnt know how well the mouse would get on with it? I also hate touchpads but i didnt know if it would be more suitable for my needs
Can always try a laser mouse, I've got the MX Revolution, and had some older mouse that came with the Logitech MX5000 desktop bundle, and they work on my bed and other fabrics. I've even used it on my cat, heh and it still worked great!
Though they're pretty expensive, but I wouldnt go back to a ball or an optical mouse now. You don't need a mouse mat![]()

Cetainly worth a try but unless the wireless reciever is fairly close then it may not work, well mine doesn't anyway but then mine is only a cheapo setup and has a rnage of about 3-4 feet. What will you be using it for? Mltimedia? If you want that sort of remote then you would be better off getting a media center type remote.
Regarding the cable you could always get a dvi to hdmi cable??

I think that would work.

Hi mate, I'm using a 5m VGA to VGA cable, VGA connection to the telly and connected to the VGA port on my 7600gt. As mine is both DVI and VGA on the card, if I were in your situation (and I have tried this) I'd just introduce the DVI-VGA dongle into the loop. I've not noticed any difference in quality using either connection. To keep things simple, I've connected the LCD TV to the VGA and my DVI monitor to the DVI port on the 7600.
The only issues you may find is getting the drivers to allow a resolution of 1366x768, which can be reached by using powerstrip.
well i have alot of ghosting on my screen at the edges of windows etc and i didnt know if this was caused by me using the DVI to VGA dongle and a poor connection or something but i have read in places that it could be my tv that is at fault
i think i will grab myself a nice looking wireless keyboard and mouse and just see how it goes.... may as well get myself some of those usb rechargable batteries whilst im at it save me some money!
@mac124 -> i only have one hdmi socket on my tv and that is being used by the ps3, i either have a choice of sticking with vga or i can use s-video i dont know if there are any benefits of one over the other.
once again if anyone can add any extra info about the ghosting or the cable then that will be much appreciated.
sean
Well i use svideo from my gfx card to mt tv and i get a cracking picture (also from a 7300gt) so i can definately recommend that.

with using svideo will this cause the sound to be played through my tv set? or will it mean that the sound will still be played through my pc's setup?
