    Default Annoying Internet Problem!

    I'll start from the start!

PC Arrives, IE7 cant open any web pages is the reported problem, but can ping web address's/ Also content manager is stopping IE loading pages.

    Steps so far

1.) Disabled the content advisor, by using Regedit.

    2.) Rolled back to IE6

3.) Reinstall the network card drivers, update the network card drivers.

    4.) Removed AVG Anti Virus

    5.) Repaired the connection

    6.) Ran the Winsock Fix

7.) Installed a new network card

    8.) Installed Firefox

    _ _ _

    The strange thing:

When you first restart the computer, load up the desktop and IE will load up the first 3/4 web pages you try to open.

Now on one of the times it did this i went straight to www.free.grisoft.com and started the AVG free download.

Then IE stopped again and refused to load up any web pages, but the download carried on.

Im out of ideas here people :

Yeah i deleted a registry key which was the content manager password then just set the password as erm. . . password.

Then disabled the content manager so it cant be that.

It's kind of like once the PC starts its all good, but then a program starts which kills the internet.

Anti Spyware & Virus scans comeback clean. Hijackthis is clean.

This is fricking ****ing me off now.

Thanks for the help so far!

Barley - Thats the last option dude, too many programs to re do. :

    Default What about

What about bung a windows disk in and do a repair, might get you a clean set of files to play with...and try getting it to do the symptoms in windowed mode whilst task manager is up so you can see if it adds a process just before the ie kill

    Dunno...mate bit weird that one...!

Lets know how you gettin on...

Strangely i've actually only just fixed this PC.

I thought i would try Safe Mode with networking, and sure enough IE worked fine.

Hmm, so i loaded up msconfig and removed everything i possibly could out of the startup, disabled the modem and removed JAVA.

Restarted it's now working fine. So im guessing its one of 3 above which has done it.
