    Default noobie

hiya all ,was just browsing the net when i stumbled upon these forums, and you all seem to be much more techie than most of the usual forum posters out there 8). anyhoos, as a relative noobie noo i was wondering if any of you could help me with a couple of things please. i recently purchased a new p.c which is mainly for gaming (ut2k4) and i really need a new case, mobo and fan/sink and was wondering if you could put me on the right tracks as i havent a clue.i currently have a (dont laugh) acer t180 machine (insurance replacement) specs:
    AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+
    Board: Acer EM61SM/EM61PM
    1024 Memory 4200 ddr2
    Radeon X1900 GT (upgrade)
i need a decent board which will let me overclock (never done this before)and was looking at an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe but dont know how many sockets (please advise)
was also considering a \"jeantech PHONG V2\" case, mainly cos i like the look of it. i dont know anything about fans/sinks so i would be most greatful of any suggestions there also.
basically i am looking to upgrade so i can overclock without any probs, so any suggestions ,however simple, will be most appreciated......many thanks in advance from an amature noob

A nice system you already have.

A case is basically your preference, just make sure whatever motherboard you buy will fit in with the case and has enough room for upgrades ect. . .

The ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe is definitely a board you should go for. My friend has it and has achieved more than a 50% overclock with him Opteron CPU! I have the ASUS A8N-SLI Premium which is ever better, it's a great board

PP's bang on! The Antec 900 is the dogs bits of cases at the moment, and Arctic Cooler make the best HSF's around in my opinion

A quick flick through a copy of Custom PC will confirm that the AC HSF's are highly recommended.

I have the Antec (with extra 120mm fan in side window) with a x2 3800 running at 2.35 ghz, (with arctic cooler 64pro) 2 hard drives, 2 burners, card reader and 4 gig ram and under full load it hardly goes over 40 degrees and idles at 25 - 30 degrees

even under 50% load the ambient temp in the case is 28 degrees

it does take a bit of time to get the cable management right and looking tidy but it's worth it, and the psu mounts at the bottom of case so if your power connector is near top of case when mobo is mounted inside you will need a longish lead (mine goes across the mobo , so I need to buy a longer lead just so I can tidy it up a bit more)
