    Default XBOX 360 - Conectivity

Any XBOX 360 Gurus wanna attempt to answer these questions?

Dead simple, Ive got a nephew who has a 360 and wants to take up the internet connection on the broadband modem, mostly when other people wanna use the internet.

Its an NTL connection, PC1 is down stairs and connects through RJ45 cable to a wireless router, PC2 is upstairs and connects through a usb wireless adapter, it has an unused ethernet port

Is there a way of connecting the xbox through the ethernet port so it has net?
if so, would it be a simple network set up, with internet sharing enabled, or would he need other stuff to achieve this?

Is there any sites I could visit, to see Thicko's diagrams or step by step solutions?

I aint got a clue, not that savvy on xboxes, plus its hard to try a solution over the phone when I cant see what Im dealing with.

    Cheers for any help!

as far as I understand thats all you do..connect the ethernet port on 360 (by cable/or the 360 wireless adapter) to the router

this is a setup for wireless

and this is for wired I think

do you mean connect it through the ethernet port on the router, or the ethernet port on PC2?

The way biodoid said is by far the easiest. I dont know how you would do it through another PC if thats what you are getting at?

    Default Jobs a good n..!

Cheers guys....for the replies...much appreciated..

I had a feeling it would have to go through a hub or sumit, was thinking whether the pc2 might be used as a hub...like diagram below

There will be a scrap over internet access, I should imagine the xbox would take most of the bandwidth....its only a 2 megger..with rubbish upload!

but atleast he knows how to do it...!

Any hub suggestions...or just a bog standard ethernet hub, gonna sort it?

    Cheers fellas...!

just thinking - can you set up the 360 to use a proxy?

This might be a cheaper option!

    http://www.analogx.com/CONTENTS/down...work/proxy.htm

If you bung this on the PC you want the 360 to connect through, and then put the relevant settings into the xbox, it should see the PC as a proxy server, and it should all work fine. I've done this in a couple of other scenarios, where I couldnt get standard connection sharing to work, and its always worked first time for me..

I'm sure you already know this, but its worth saying just so I know its been said! hehe - you'll need a crossover cat5 cable to go between the 360 and the PC!

Saying that, games like counterstrike, uses 20k down, and 6 up. Its really nothing at all when it comes to games. Just your ping gets a bit higher from other internet users, i get like 20 ms more from other people using internet. So nothing really to worry about.
