Right..
A while ago, we had a thread about a project called Folding@Home. (Details can be found at http://folding.stanford.edu/). Ive held off posting this thread to give this forum priority on forming a folding team, but it seems alot of people either aren't interested or are folding for another team.
BUT....
I'm a mod on another forum. And we do have a folding team, and currently we are at position 127 out of thousands and thousands of teams. But we are about to have a spate of other teams overtake us.
Could I be cheeky and call on the services of people here to install folding on your machine and fold for us for a bit?
Basically, you can install it as a service, and it runs in the background at the lowest priority, and it really doesnt slow anything else down as everything else has a higher priority.
The details you would need are:
Download Page: http://folding.stanford.edu/download.html (Choose the \"Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista 'No nonsense' text-only console\"). When you install it, put Y to install as a service to have in run in the background.
Username: DC
Team Number: 11899
There isnt an actual install package, so make sure you put the file you download in its own folder somewhere before you run it, as it will create a couple of other files in the same location.
If anyone can help out, even for just a coupla weeks, it would be be really helpful. If you have a dual core (or more!!) machine, then let me know and i'll tell you how to install it so both cores get full usage.
If noone can help, then no worries, but I thought it'd be worth asking![]()
