Default ATI/AMD R600 XTX Picture & Possible Benchmarks...

Found some interesting material regarding AMD's upcoming R600 graphics chip. Here's a picture of the card itself:

Note this is the \"OEM/SI\" version (Original Equipment Manufacturer/System Integrator) of the card, and that the end-user version of the card will be several inches shorter.

And, some possible benchmarks (AMD/ATi have not confirmed them)

    Discuss.

There's no way the OEM version will fit in my case (I believe it is well over 12\" in length).

Also, at peak load it demands 240W from the power supply. This is just getting silly...

But with mountains of issues surrounding it they dont sound worth the hassle to me.

Both the new AMD chips and the R600 I am slowly loosing faith in as i start reading initial reviews.

Check this out for an o/c R600.. They are calling the card the Radeon 2900 XTX, so same naming convention as the DX9 series.[/quote:10bc10eb2c]

You mean Radeon HD 2900XT or XTX ;P

Personally I think Radeon X2900XT sounds and looks cooler, but I suppose the letters \"HD\" are essential marketing gimmicks these days...

Heh, well the X was meant to mean \"10\", as the previous series of Radeon cards had been 9. I guess that's why they ditched the X from the 2000 lineup too, then.

But anyway, anyone planning on getting one of these? From what I can see it beats the 8800GTS, sometimes even the 8800GTX, and it's at the GTS pricepoint.

As I got a Crossfire motherboard, I'm looking to chuck my X1950 and grab one of these ASAP.

Checkout toms hardware guide, they have a good review on there with lots of benchies, seems more often than not the 2900xt is somewhere between the 8800gts and gtx might well change and pull some performance back on the gtx as better drivers come out. Glad i got the 8800gtx now.

As far as i was aware the x2900xt was THE R600 card. Persoanlly i haven't heard of anything due to come out above that spec. Obviously something will sooner or later but that was supposedly the dogs doodahs and everyone was expecting it to be the 8800 killer.

Least thats the impression i got, but it was a bit of a damp squid when it arrived and priced down as it didn't perform as expected.

Could be wrong though. Maybe there is an x3200xt or whatever due for release soon and just been kept quiet

read up guys, your all behind. The R600 is the HD 2900 **. The R610 is the HD 2400 ** and so on i believe. The R670 is going to be 65nm in a die shrink, and that will be the XTX or the HD 2950 XT
