Rescue Belso!

After a cracking weekend, i arrive at work to find a BSOD.
0x00000004F or something.

Remove my hard drive to find its dead/dying on me.

No backups, as i removed them Friday so i have lost everything.

All my Training Work, Pics, Work records which i could find myself in very big trouble if they see, i haven't been printing off the records just storing them on me desktop :roll:

Not a good start to the morning, so i'm desperately in need of a program they can recover some of my stuff.

Windows will see the Hard Drive, but as soon as you try accessing it through either My Computer or > Computer Management the computer will crash.

The bios doesn't even see it.

Any ideas? :

That doesn't sound good mate, not good at all! Tip, don't leave important work on your hard drive, make a folder on a network drive, or re-map your 'My Documents' folder to somewhere on the network.

Have you tried installing the drive as a secondary drive on another machine to try to recover the data? If your BIOS won't detect the hard drive, it really does sound like a lost cause

Drive is not even recognised by the bios at all, just tries to boot from a CD ignoring the drive.

I'm now installing Windows XP on a new HDD (SATA has packed up on my mobo aswell). So found some old 40GB IDE HDD :wink:

Have it currently sitting in a USB caddy, and every now and then XP will find it and run auto play then it will just disapear again

Yeah i know i should backup, but im stupid.

Seriously i have lost 2 years worth of Work, and Records due to Maxtor and there Shi* HDD's :evil:

Sorry to hear that Bels dude, Im guessing youve tried Slaving the drive etc, Im thinking its time to look at either some kind of dead HDD recovery, and worse case scenario, data recovery specialists, I learnt the very same lesson a couple of years back, with a lot of v important data.

So I just dont take any chances, and have all me stuff on dvd.

Ill have a little root around for a sollution, post in a bit.

Already tried slaving it too another pc and XP can see it, but as soon as you try doing anything to do it, BAM. Windows will freeze or something.

i know it sounds stupid but if you can copy the files off using command prompt rather than windows you might be ok.

Supposedly there are 200 ways to retrieve data from a dead/dying HDD

Soz mate...! anyhoo as we cant turn back time in this instance, please find a couple of Recovery dude numbers in your PM inbox mate.

Cant hurt to ring em and ask for a quote, usually on no fix no fee basis.

Oh and first thing in the Morning order your self a bumper pack of blank dvd's to back up all your important data on... :wink:

Yeah the only computery thing that Ive found the freezer good for was to get heatsinks off video cards etc when they used that glue stuff to stick it on there.
