    Default Wounder!

    My new pc arrives.

I sit and take everything out of the boxes. Sit and go through the motherboard manual, the xfx manual, the centurion case manual and the intel manual so I know what I'm doing.

I get the mother board in, fit the processor, the memory the graphics, everything, or so i thought....

I'm looking at the pc thinking what have I forgotten...

memory, dvd, card reader, processor, mother board, graphics card, psu...

    ahh that's it Hard drive

Where's the Hard drive I think to myself.....

*queue frantic scrabbling through manuals, boxes, packaging*

yep - that's right no hard drive.

So I thought to myself did I order one - have I been a plank and forgotten it?

    so I check the invoice

right at the bottom is the 250gb hard drive.... along with an asterix

    Dispatched from another location.....

    NOOOOOO!!!!

    plus points to note -

    1. Aria customer service = the win. Three times I chased the order due to out of stock bits - three times I got through with little delay on the phone and got friendly help

    2. The Xerox monitor - hooked up atm to my old pc and wow!!! 22\" is f****g big on the desktop - I dunno if I can fit my old 17\" tft along side for apps and tv watching....

    3. XFX 8800 GTX - *slobber* if you want to sli two of these beasts - buy a tower case! They're HUGE!

    4. hyper power 580. 8 years ago I bought an enermax psu and it blew within 10 months and totally put me off branded psu's. This thing is a different class entirely. I can see now why you guys bang on about branded psus and I can see now why it was £50 plus. I am sure it will give solid return on investment.

So - sat downstairs is my sexy new pc - all ready to go once I get a HD which hopefully will be later today. In the mean time I can see how well my 7600GS card and amd3500 handle 1680 x 1050 res in eve online

    Congrats on the new rig

If I were you, Id just grab an old hard drive and get it all installed and running, just to see what its like while waiting for the new HD!

I'd be really interested to hear what the Xerox monitor is like for gaming/movies etc. Keep us posted!

Good luck mate! If I were you I wouldn't know what to do with myself. I think I'd either take the hard drive out of the PC I'm using at the moment, or nip to a local shop and buy one. I hate waiting

    eve-online in widescreen is sexy

    no jitter at all

the drivers a faff tho - you have to install as an xm319w and then use the xm322w profile to get it all set

not the end of the world tho

Im still waiting for my processor which i ordered from america to save pennies.

    11th it was dispatched ooeerr.

Having the pc built and ready to go except the cpu is just a teaser.

Am a little worried the Scythe Ninja wont fit though.... theres about 1mm of space left befor the GTX wouldnt have fit so its a tight sqeeeze. Might have to remove one of the several case fans

    lol

Well folks - I've tested this monitor all afternoon (in between chores for brownie points with ze missus, always good when you've just sunk a holiday's worth of money on a new toy) and I have to say it's better without the drivers...

If you just leave it as a plug n play monitor - let nvidia control panel sort the colours etc out so you're happy and then ignore the xerox drivers it's happy days.

With the xerox drivers it likes to revert to 1440 x 900 every time you come back out of game - I suspect it's cos it thinks it's the 19\" version of this monitor rather than the 22\".

Don't bother trying to get newer drivers from xerox uk as the web drivers are 1.08 and the ones on the disk are 1.09.

    It's a Dell 26\" monitor/TV. It does both with it's native resolution of 1280*768

    Frassin wrassin dell ;s

I was offered one of them for £170 and the sodding boss nicked it before I could say yes.

it was a 'thank you' price after we'd just ordered 400 dell workstations...
