Default A laptop for 1080p gaming and music production?

    Edit-music only!!!

    Any suggestions?.

I mainly make standard dance/house/trance on fls or ableton. Use the quality plugins like nexus, massive. And samples when needed.

If you're going for a laptop (or if you're at all serious about doing recording at all), then you'll need a proper audio interface. The time will come when you will want to record something.

Are you still wanting to run Fruity Loops or whatever it was you mentioned before?

yeh I'm keeping my desktop so could do with laptop just to make some tunes on fls when in bed, doesn't need to be top quality just good enough to make basics of tunes, I can then transfer and complete production on my desktop during day.

Just would be much easier to have laptop in bed to make tunes when I'm most musically productive and lazy haha...what specs you recommend and it be 500+ I guess? nothing cheaper?

If you're just looking at running Fruity Loops, then keep an eye out on your local freecycle. Something will come up.

System requirements are (from the Image Line page):

    2Ghz Pentium 4
    1Gb RAM

Any laptop made in the last 7-8 years will easily run it.

2ghz p4 equivalent is basically any cpu from the last decade dude. any lappy from the last decade with 1 gig of ram will be enough.

of course the more you pay, the better the specs, the better it will work

Probably yeah. But I wouldn't pay 250 for it.

ye so one could say but I know some of these laptops take about a week to boot up and load pages etc..right!

that's min spec and once I got some vst and what not and samples loaded up I forsee the thing freezing every 5seconds...right?

If you google advise for laptop for music production they advising not to go expensive but recommend these 1200 quid laptops as they are budget LOL, yeh budget compared to 4000 ones

I picked up an i7 macbook last year for 400. I've used it to record 20 tracks of live audio from a gig all at the same time in to logic, and then mixed then with a load of effects on each track too, which is way more system intensive than fruity loops with a few vsts.

Look at what you can realistically spend. Get the best laptop you can for the money. Then spend a bit more when you can and stick a 500gb ssd in there.
