    Default NEW PC NET PROB

Right basically, when i try to install my broadband connection using a NTL CD, it crashes on the 3rd option menu. I get that typical windows error, so so has caused errors and do i want to send info of the error to microsoft.

Now, I installed COD2 and this worked fine so it cant be ma rom, i reinstalled the same net on this (old) pc and it works fine, so its obvious software or hardware on that pc which is conflicting.

I connect through the cable box via ethernet.
Some help would be great. (thanks in advance)

NOTE: It does say close all applications before running it, so could it be another program? i did close bullguard and turned firewall off :/
I have windows XP MCE if that helps....

    HELP

I would take a wild guess at it being a Driver problem,
I would try and uninstall/re-install the drivers for your ethernet card.

    Default NO Net..?

Sometimes those awful disks can be a right pain...in the @$$, as FR mentioned it could be the fault of your Ethernet drivers, there is however another way you can connect, I think its some kinda machine ID workaround, I install my net after an OS re-install by doing this CD Bypass >>

    1. Turn on PC
    2. Try to connect using IE, (Computer says no)
    3. Turn off Set top box/ Turn on set top box
    4. Try to connect with IE, this time it will/might goto an NTL Login page asking for your user PID number etc input these then add your pc as a new name E.G. PC 2 click ok to finish the dialogue.

    5. Turn off set top box/ turn on set top box

    6. Re-boot PC Wait a couple of mins while the set top boots its OS usually stops blinking the green light when done.

    7. connect to your net using IE, >>> Bob's your mothers sister!
    you got net.

    Hope this helps dude....Mighty...
( Not sure if it works for all PC's but it does for mine )
