Default Lens - Do i get a new one?

    I've got the follwoing ...

    18-70mm

    55-200mm

I've been offered a 75-300mm cheap and i'm tempted but isit really worth me going for it or should i go for a nice prime 50mm lens?

I'm using a Sony A200 and my lens are Sony's own not a different mfg.

Get the 75-300 and sell the 55-200, as the 75-300 and 18-70 would cover everything the 55-200 anyway, then get a nice prime 50mm?

True and very good point that. The 75-300 is pretty big

I've now got an A200, with the default 18-70 lens. I've found the zoom ok so far, but the macro as opposed to my Fuji where I could get within touching distance of the subject - with the sony I have to be a bit further back and zoom into the macro shot.

Cracking camera so far, love the built in image stabilation in the body itself, battery life record so far is 850 pics, and some nice images.

Cracking value the A200, I've got the Canon D20, stabilized lenses cost a bomb! I get much better resolution with a fixed focal length (28mm) lens.

I think you should look at online reviews for the lens in question before you buy.

Is there anything wrong with it?

Is it the same speed, slower or quicker than your existing tele zoom? i.e. f-numbers. You'll perhaps miss out on an f-stop at 300mm over the 200mm but this can be expected for a lot of lenses. f5.6 should be okay for 300mm.

Check for dust INSIDE the front element before purchasing.
