Upgrading my computer, What to choose?
I currently have this as my system,
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3800+, 2.4GHz
Gigabyte GA-K8N Pro-SLI Mobo
1GB of RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 6200 TurboCache
SB Audigy 2 ZS Audio
I'm looking to do a bit of an upgrade because the computer is beginning to feel a bit sluggish.
I am looking to upgrade the Processore to either a AMD Athlon64 X2 4800 1MB or a Athlon 64 FX-57 San Diego, I do a fair gaming aswell as some fairly heavy graphics handling so im swayed towards the FX-57 but I can't find them for sale on aria and I would like to stick with buying from aria, any ideas? or will the AMD Athlon64 X2 be enough? on top of that is there any obvious problems that i might encounter with either of these two Processors and my current setup?
Secondly I am looking to upgrade my Ram to 2GB, Is there anything that anyone can recommend?
Finally I am looking to upgrade the Graphics cards, possibly to an SLi combination, are there any recommendations that people have for that?
Just as a side note, would there be much point in me upgrading my mobo to an AM2 and then have an AM2 processor?
Thank-you in advance

AM2 upgrade would be a very good idea, but better than that, would be to go to core2 duo, the E6600 outperforms the FX-62/3 etc and costs far less. So, is the way to go. For graphics, whats your budget, then we can give you a good SLi combination, but unless you want more than one monitor working, SLi isnt worth it, and you could put the other money to good use. With AM2 and Core2duo new DDR2 ram is needed also, the audigy would pass over.

I would like to stick with AMD and as for budget I can spend a fair bit £1000 something like that as max.
Just been having a look through some of the aria products and came up with this lot as a shoping cart:
ASUS M2N32-SLI DLX nF590 Socket AM2 2x £103.45 £103.45
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200 Retail AM2 2.60GHz £224.89 £224.89
Kingston 2GB Kit DDR2 PC2-6400 800MHz £203.95 £203.95
Gainward BLISS 7950GT 512MB PCI-E DDR3 £170.50 £170.50
300GB Maxtor D/Max +10 SATA2 [16MB] £57.95 £57.95
Any opinions on this?
Thanks for the previous response

Dont use Maxtors, even if you have to pay more, maxtors are extrememly unreliable.
ASUS M2N32-SLI DLX nF590 Socket AM2 2x PCI-E SLi / WiFi EDITION / DUALGb LAN / SATA(II) RAID / FIREWIRE / ATX MOTHERBOARD £103.45 £103.45
Kingston 2GB kit 667MHz DDR2 CL5 DIMM KVR667D2N5K2/2G (Kit of 2x 1GB) £145.95 £145.95
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200 Retail AM2 2.60GHz, 1000MHz FSB, 1MB, 64 Bit CPUADA5200CSBOX £224.89 £224.89
Gainward BLISS 8800GTS 640MB PCI-E DDR3 Dual DVI Mfr# 471846200-8279 £285.95 £285.95
300Gb Samsung 133/7200 8M £53.50 £53.50
Coolermaster Centurion 5 Silver £37.00 £37.00
Subtotal :
VAT : £850.74
£148.88 Total : £999.62 inc VAT
That is a similar but with better choices, the NEW 8800's are far better than the 7900's as they are DX10 and benchmarks show its better.

Ok then thanks for the help with that!
Also was the memory that I choose a bit over the top? and what do you think about the gigabyte aurora case instead of the coolermaster? And was the Mobo a good choice. sorry about asking a lot of questions but i don't want to throw money away.

That ram will save you a bit of money, but i feel teh extra is worth it.
AS for cases, that is your personal choice, and as you are going to live with it, then choose what you want.

would the 800mhz really be worth it for the type of things that I do?

I dont feel that it would, this ram will give you overclocking possibilieites for your CPU, as long as its good ram, if you can spare it, go for OCZ every time.

So if I can find an extra bit of money should I go for something like this :
OCZ SPECIAL OPS DDR2-800 2GB Kit?
or is there something else you would recommend, preferably under £200?

I would say my origional choice in ram is perfect for what you want, but if you have extra cash, then OCZ are the way, but their performance will only effect gamers, will be perfect with what youve chosen.
