Graphics card installation

I recently bought a system using an ASRock ALiveNF4G-DVI mother board and a GeForce 7600 GS graphics card but when I try to plug the graphics card into the mother board and attach the monitor I do not get a signal. I have looked on the manufacturers websites but found nothing useful. I can't find a disable onboard graphics card option in BIOS, although there is an enable PCIExpress option which I set- still nothing! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!- LiamC (p.s. I have tried the graphics card on another pc and it does work)

Is their a secondary powercable that you need to attache? make sure that its plugged in correctly, also, in the bios, go into chipset/onboard devices and it should be there, i assumed that new mobos took whatever was in the PCI-E slot and if not there, took the onboard.

Thanks for your speedy reply and advice- I have checked and I can't see any kind of power supply input- Also in terms of the chipset in BIOS there is only a enable PCIExpress not a disable onboard option. When I plug it in and connect it up to the monitor I get a flickery, jumping ghost of the make, model number and copyright info etc. but windows doesn't boot up and the screen stays the same- Is it possible that this graphics card and motherboard are just not compatible?

Is the card properly pressed into the slot, and screwed in? also, make sure teh monitor connector is screwed into the slot or it will be flickery. As for the power, it will be a 4pin connector on the card, that the card came with an adaptor with that you just connect to the psu.

Hi Liam welcome to the forum.

When the pcie card is plugged in does the onboard gfx still work? If it does this would suggest to me the motherboad isn't sensing the pcie card. Why it wouldn't do this i don't know. I have a similar motherboard (Asus) with onboard gfx and when i plug my pcie 7300 in, there is no need to play with the bios as it auto defaults to the pcie card. It might be worth checking to see if there is a power connector on the mtherboard that you have forgotten to plug in most motherboard need 2 power connections (the 24 way and a square 4 way) and some also require either a floppy type power connector or molex power connector your mobo maybe one of these. Though usually if its a power issue you get some kind of message pop up to say so it should still display the post screen etc.

It is most odd have you googled to see if there is known issues with that particular mobo and card as tbh its got me pretty much stumped, sorry.
