Default splitting games packs, steam key sales ect

I know in the steam sales and occasionally when a good deal pops up people split packs(makes sense we all save a little).

If it gets really common practice to split packs then eventually someone will get burned either in buying a pack and not getting payed or people backing out or whatever.

I personally think sales forums as it is a sale/deal/agreement between people.

The other part is steam key sales. I tried a few giveaways recently but people are just too lazy tbh so most get barely 5 entrys. I have like 4 keys left and want to sell them(even if just token 50p) but again no idea on that.

So more moderation/guidelines for game key involvement please.

Think the mod team are currently scratching their collective head about this one, it's a bit of a grey area.

I think you can link to your steam inventory which will show your giftable items in it?

Most games are heading towards online only sales tbh(ea, steam, ect).

I'm more on about the kinda thing like this.

    member a - 4 pack anyone? makes it £20
    members b c d - cool I'm in
    ... next day
    member b pays
    member c pays
... random steam daily sale £10
    member d buys that
member a £20 out of pocket and fight breaks out, millions are killed

A rare situation but can be plenty of reasons someone can buy one day and not the next.

Don't buy it until everyone else has put their money in?

The only way to make it work imo would be more like this

    member a - 4 pack anyone? makes it £20
    members b c d - cool I'm in
    ... next day
member a buys 4-pack, posts screeny on the forums.
members b c d pay member a for their "gift".

It still breaks the t's and c's though I think as Steam gifts should be just that, and not sold for money?

Not to mention the sale might end and the other way 3 buyers have payed £15 each for a game that is now £20 again.

Personally, I wouldn't go in with people on something like that unless I trusted them anyway.

The alternative is paying someone for something they do have but might not give you. Same outcome.

I never even knew you could split game packs. So your telling me you can buy a large pack and individually distribute the items contained within that pack? if so I could have given out a couple of free games. :'(

i bought two steam game packs in the sale and tbh had more people wanting in than the 3 you get to gift.

Had all the money in minutes as well.

I think you would just simply deal with regulars and then take the money first off someone you dont know or who you arent sure about.

Not all packs let you break them up to distribute. Packs of games like GOTY edition or Complete editions are one key which gives you all those games, some allow you to gift copies of those games you already own but some don't. Others like the L4D 4-pack or the Borderlands 4-pack are for breaking up and you get extra copies to distribute.

So be very careful and don't assume that what you are buying is going to be individually giftable if you already have a copy.
