    Post Need Some Advice!

Let me start this thread by saying,
    I'M SO CONFUSED!

I'd like to think I'm computer literate, but when it comes to Monitors I just.. I don't even..

I'm torn with what to buy..
I'd like to say I have about £150 inc Delivery for a decent monitor for gaming.
And I've been looking at this:

I've not upgraded monitor in about 5 years so anything really is an upgrade, but I have this OCD thing,
were I can't buy something unless I know I'm getting the best value for money.

The things to look at really are:

    Panel Type
    Backlight Type
    Size
    Manufacturer

Things that you need not look at:

    Contrast Ratio
    Response Time

The reason why I put response time there is that generally the panel type makes a bigger difference than response time when it comes to ghosting and the such, for example I had a VA panel monitor, and my monitor would ghost just when scrolling down on a web page, it was nauseating. Before that I had a basic TN panel, which is OK nothing special however. My true revelation happened when I picked up my first Dell 23" IPS monitor, the colours and contrast pounded the competitor panel types into the ground. So realistically if its below 15ms don't worry about it.

As for backlight type, I personally prefer CCFL backlighting over LED due to the fact that I find the accuracy and uniformity are better compared to the overbright LED variants, but this is simply down to choice I don't particularly like an overly bright monitor.

As for manufacturers in the cheap realm of things I feel Dell has the lead over other manufacturers, but from what I've seen Eizo are the best of the bunch. NEC pro monitors are no slouch either though.

    Thanks for the replies fellas!
And Naphta very insightful post, I've learnt something already - I always thought when opting to buy a monitor best suited for gaming I should look out for the Contrast and Response.
So that's helped me a great deal. Based on that I will shop around and see what I can find.

I have a few days till I get the wage anyway haha.
