Default Help with AMD Llano build spec plz, AMD 3870K Powerful to run games at 720P?

Wanna to build a cheap rig for a friend, only wants a small monitor and a basic system that can run Windows 7 x64 and light gaming at medium / high settings. Would a 3870K Llano build cope with this? Can you actually buy a decent 19" screen with 720P resolution? Thinking this would negate the need for a powerful GPU?

Any help with build spec will be appreciated..

Want 19" screen pref around 720P resolution, AMD Llano or alternative integrated GPU/CPU and compatible motherboard. say 8GB of DDR3 and a PSU that will cope with it all. Already have a DVDrom and copy of Windows.. Anything else you guys can think of?

Should manage ok I think. Have a word with Brokenfeet, he had a play with one for a while. Make sure you buy some fairly quick high capacity memory (at least 8GB 1600MHz+ ) as the on board GPU shares it, so this will boost FPS a fair bit.

Budget is about £250 - £350, need case, ram, mobo, cpu, and cheap 19" screen? I think it may be doable?

Thinking is that Llano may be cheapest overall but alternatives welcome..

Anybody know when Trinity is supposed to launch? Thinking that may be worth waiting for?

Its sort of do able, but when I made a wishlist with a G540 and 6670 it came out cheaper - then again the 3870k comes with £10 cashback so up to you I guess.

    Shame Aria doesn't have 4GB 1600MHz kits.

Been looking and seen some barebone Intel PC's H61 + Celeron G540 + 2Gb of ram and PSU pre built for £134.99, could just throw a GPU in one of those and be done?

Maybe i'll just grab a 6850 or 7750 GPU from Aria and throw that in a barebones rig, would save me time from not having to build it aswell, working lots of hours atm so any time saved is a bonus .

Only 300W PSU with it, wouldn't trust putting a decent GPU in.

Although its not badly priced at all...

You think a 7750 would be ok on 300watt?

Mhmmm probably, cutting it fine though. I mean, a decent 300W PSU yeah (ran an overclocked i3 540 and 6850 on a FSP 300W) but not sure on a no name would.

But with only 43W peak power consumption, I'd risk it.

Also might as well double up the ram? Makes a difference in some games. Also I put a 19" acer monitor in the build above, I say get that (can't complain for £60)

Yeah I think i'll grab the Acer 19" and a HD 7750 from Aria and use it in the barebones rig. A lot easier for me this way aswell, probably better performance than the LLano alternative aswell?

    A lot better.

400 6000 series cores in the llano, 512 GCN cores on the 7750. CPU might be slower but not by much.
