New build - Optical drives still not working?

Hey guys,

Finally completed my new build and my two LG optical drives are still not working?

Any ideas or suggestions before I do a RMA request.

Any lights on the front? Have you tried different cables/SATA ports?

Both drives open/close but neither read any media. They just crash windows explorer

So its getting the power but Data is being the problem, Have you tried different SATA ports? Also just try using one at a time, worth a shot.
Just seems odd that both drives are failing (assuming you got them the same time for the new build)

Shouldn't need to surely, as it's all brand new gear.

Yes think so, the HDD works? I installed all from MSI's site

I'm assuming the mobo has the "intel" sata ports, and probably 2 on the marvel controller... where are your ODD's plugged in? If they're in the marvel controller, try the intel ports (and vice versa).

If using the Marvel ports, make sure the driver is installed.

Also: could you post the full spec and PSU ?

Have you checked what the ports are set to in the BIOS? Maybe their not operating or try setting it to basic IDE for those ports.

Try another model if you have one around or try the drives in another PC. Might be one of those odd compatibility issues that just happen.
