On the Home vs Business page you mention:
I'd be curious to know how you came to this conclusion. As well as offering lower contention ratios, business broadband packages generally provide faster connection speeds. While 2MB or 4MB speeds are standard for many home packages, business broadband usually offers speeds of around 8MB or higher. Faster speeds are crucial for any business running their own website, for keeping in contact with staff or clients via email, sending or receiving large files, and a number of other web-based operations.
Speeds are dictated by the package and line speed. The line speed will not change between Home or Business since it's the same line. Also, since when was 2MB speeds standard for home while 8MB is standard for business? You may also want to change that to Mb/s.
It would be a lot easier to recommend the packages to people if I could tell them what they were buying. All I can gather is that it's some form of broadband you're offering. There are no clues on the Wholesale Platform, Reseller (If Applicable), Port Restrictions/Blocking or anything like that.
Yes. The VAT threshold has risen steadily over the years.
When I set up my company 22 years ago, we had to register because of the turnover.
Deregistered a few years back because even with a higher turnover we were well below the VAT threshold.

Me Too.
There has never been any difference between the speed of standard business/domestic ADSL packages.
The difference, as others have said, is in contention ratio.

Hi All,
As you can see we now have an upgraded broadband service with unlimited usage. Speeds are up to 24mb, lines permitting (speed is dependent on your location from the exchange, phone line, site wiring and time of day). This line is business quality broadband with fewer people hogging the lines and the peak usage time is the opposite to home (9-5 not 5-9).
Support is provided by telecom plus from 08:00 to 20:00 in UK call centres. For 24 hour support the call centres are outsourced to another company still based in the UK.
The package is a business package, however, we can provide this service for any home worker/sole trader/ multi-site business etc.. If you are interested, give us a call.
P.S. Regarding the latest query on the home v business broadband. These details were provided to us from our old wholesaler, as you guys have mentioned they weren’t very good or informative. The site is under a complete revamp and these pages will be removed. I apologise for any confusion, you are correct in saying contention ratio is the big difference. Our new package that we have created is designed to offer lower line rental, lower call charges and truly unlimited broadband
24 millbits? Even 24 millibytes. I don't think any of the rivals will be quaking in their boots at that.
And is that /hour? /week?
Hang on, it was probably meant to be 24Mb. Only 12 orders of magnitude different. But what's 1,000,000,000,000 between friends?
Picky, I know, but see other conversation about the importance of professional communication.

Totally agree with the first point earlier in the thread about the email, and your point was well made by another poster.. But a quick chatty forum post isn't really 'professional communication' - Its just an answer to an equally chatty, informal question.
That last comment was ludicrously picky, even by your standards. Remember, sometimes a bit of 'chat' can go a long way too, instead of everything having to be done 100% correctly. It makes things sound more human, like you're actually talking to a person rather than just getting a machine-like response.

None the less, spelling is a major issue. Different target markets results in different expectations.
I for one, spell check every email and letter I send out. Letters not only by myself, but my mother, father, and fellow housemate, depending on who it's going to of course.
Is it fibre optic and what is the contention ratio?
and something I have just thought of is the spelling 'fibre' or 'fiber'? Firefox seems to think 'fiber' but I think this may be an American vs British thing![]()
