Default Corsair TX 550 Psu going bang in the night

Last week i had my Corsair tx 550 PSU go bang on me in the middle of the night tripping out all the electrics in my house, i performed the paper clip test and it was dead, my question is would this make it a straight forward case repair or replacement from Corsair because ive got to post it to them in the Netherlands which is going to cost an arm and a leg

You just get like for like. Only times people have had an "upgrade" is stuff like the v1 to v2 swaps.

Is it the VX 550 ? I don't think they make a TX 550 mate, you'll just get a upgrade to a Corsair TX 650w V2. Use the advanced rma service, its awesome.

Shouldn't cost more than £20 to send yours back.

Corsair Fanboi mourns the loss of this fallen comrade... But weep not for long Citizen as the RMA procedure should leave you well satisfied.

That's why I suggest using Advanced RMA, they normally dispatch the replacement the day you phone up to arrange for a advanced replacement, then it shouldn't take more than 3 working days.

Ah, those guys. Was more expensive to send my CX400 to the Netherlands than it was to buy another. Useless basically.

Furthermore, it repeatedly wrecked graphics cards. I only found this out by experience.

Yeah I think that's what he meant, it doesn't cost more than £20 to send it. Its not as if other manufacturers have a RMA center in the UK. If you go for Seasonic, Bequiet etc you'd still be paying to send it back to the USA/Netherlands etc.

    ^This.

I wouldn't feel so inconvenienced if it was something higher end. But the fact that it ruined 2x4870s, and an 8800, and they still couldn't find it in themselves to cover return postage speaks volumes to me.

(And before anyone starts... there was no way I could tell it was the PSU initially they failed with typical VRAM symptoms and I assumed it was just a crappy non-ref PCB. Things only got suspect when the 8800 went. My Basiq 430 is fine)
