X79/3820 that way you can upgrade to a 3930K?
Will be much faster in the long run IMO

I would go X79 if it's being used for heavy video encoding, just take a look at things like Cinebench scores for X79 (and 3930K) over i5 ivys and i7 sandy.

    Why do you want Thunderbolt?
Not saying you don't, just asking why.

For 30-40 more pounds it is a nice feature.

That line of mobos from ASUS have a lot of great features.

Yet you loose out on the power of x79 for better data transfer....I would go x79 If I were doing important video work.

Going to have a Dark Rock PRO 2 Dual Fan for cooling.

I cant really say I can think of anythign that uses Thunderbolt so if you think of it that way, its £30 thats being wasted and un-used.

Bar daisy chaining up to 5 external devices. Say 4 external HDD's and then a DP monitor. It pretty neat but not a feature I'll be using anytime soon.

Oh it will get used soon. It is a handy port more than anything for the chain feature.

Though I have started to doubt me using it.

I would only use it for live camera stuff but I can just use USB3 for that and it is cheaper for the cables.

Going to go with the 2011 and forget the TB.

Thunderbolt wont become mainstream for years, if at all. Not enough support for it.
