clarification... it's not as high end as the M4, but look at those prices!

Someone should really set up a sticky that helps decide on which SSD is best. Something that references driver performance and known problems, real world benchmarks rather than quoted rates, reliability etc etc. Despite people saying the M4 is the best (and I have one and can't fault it), it's hard to understand the exact reason for this without seeing some side-by-side data.![]()

According to Micro Mart, the SSD with the highest level of performance and consistency is the Corsair Performance Series Pro; £140 for 128GB is also pretty palatable.

Again its all about needs, i have a OCZ, only sata 2, loads window up fast enough for me, tho i am in the market for a bigger one, have also thought about using it for cache drive, anybody ever tried that? and is it as good as they make it out to be?

Games use M4 some apps prefer sandforce.
Added after 3 minutes:
Cache thing works but to be honest nab a 120-256 for size then just transfer stuff to storage to a HDD even external and geta HDD out of the system. No HDD less noise less spin up seek time issues lagging the system. Cache thing was handy when SSD's were £3-4 a GB now they are less than £1 just try and fit the workload onto the SSD. |By workload I mean apps that need SSD and games that stream data and the OS.

Well tbh, my 60 is as good as full, as about 12 gig spare but dont seem enough for some games, not that i play many, but yes cud do with a bigger sdd just to keep my games on, will having OS on a sata 2 sdd cause any probs if i get a sata 3 sdd for my games? speed wise im not to bothered, i have a slow read and write with this one i have now, but it seems to get me into BF3 before most, dont understand anything beyond that tbh, or would i be better off using the sata 3 sdd for my os and some games and using the sata 2 sdd for back up etc, i have a 500 gig hdd now which i save everything on, but i install some games from there now and all bench mark programs , not sure the best way forward on this tbhthats where you guys come in handy

With SSD prices what they are, seems grabbing 2 x 256GB versions and putting them in a RAID1 array is a pretty solid idea. Use one drive for OS and another for games. At least that's my plan although I may wait for the price to drop below £150.

There'll always be something a bit better for a bit more. That's technology. However, in a real world test, the M4 is perfectly fast enough and not sure the speeds quoted on the newer drives will make that much real world difference - I mean who cares about 9 secs to boot vs 10 secs - much better than the previous 45 secs! Besides, there's only so much waiting that can be done though and you have to make a decision to buy at some point! I need a Sata3 board before worrying about this kind of stuff though.
