  • Programming for working with video...

    Hi all.

Looking to learn some stuff and see if I can create a little concept bit of code.

What I need to do is display a webcam or video feed from a BMD device.
Then a way to detect in focus pixels...

Any ideas on where to start?

    Need a easy language...

    Thanks
    Jack,

I don't follow. You're after a tool for recording you program, or a programming language for manipulating video?

I read it as he wants to create a program that will stream live video from his camera (I assume a blackmagic?), and then tell him when certain portions of the frame are in focus...

Basically process the video feed to highlight the in focus area.
        We call it "focus assist".

If that needs to be done in real time, then the simple answer is "no easy language will work".

This is the kind of thing AI engines get written for.

Working out whether a picture is in focus: doable.
Working out whether a video is in focus: difficult.
Working out which parts of a video are in focus: extremely difficult.
Working out which parts of a video are in focus and displaying on the fly: nope.mp4

Of course it's possible. But not for someone at your level given you're requirement was an "easy language"

                  Dim x as New VideoFile("C:\JacksterJumpsAround.avi")
                  x.HighlightInFocusAreas(outline.green)
                  x.Play
