  • Ubuntu Server In VM

I've just installed ubunutu server on a VM using VMware Workstation. I want host a website using LAMP. Set it all up, but what i need to know is how to set up the networking so people can access the website through my host OS then the VM.

Any ideas? I have access to the Virtual Network Editor, but not sure on what settings i need to allow for access from remote.

    Cheers iGoD

No idea - but you'd be looking at forward ports 80/443 at a minimum... If there's anything under NAT or PAT then you should start looking there

It's been too long since I used VMWare.

Ok got this sorted with the hint from Spaceboy. Found the forwarding from the Host OS to the VM.

All the settings needed appear when you assign a Virtual Adapter to NAT. Then you do all your forwarding there from your Host OS to the VM, and then dont forget to open the ports on the Host OS' firewall, the VM's firewall and your router if going via. WAN.
