I could see them putting a pause on the Honda contract for a year or two to give them development time, and using Merc engines for a short period. But I doubt they'll abandon it completely when it nets them over 100,000,000 per year AND they are only 3 years in to a 10 year deal.

I just don't know how Honda can get it so wrong with all their world-class engineers. It's embarrassing.

you mean like making a world beating chassis and aero set up and then pulling out the sport?

I'm not taking anything away from Honda's previous achievements. I remember the glory days very well! I'm just struggling to see how seemingly all of that knowledge of creating reliable power has gone to the dogs.

4 more sleeps.... It's worse than waiting for Christmas Eve!! I just hope we have a more competitive, mixed up grid this year.

Yeah I suspect it'll be more mixed up. However, not withstanding crashes/failures, they are now so reliant on aero the order in which they get to the first corner will be the order at the first set of pit stops. And the order at the end of the last set of stops will be the finishing order.

Haha! Love the optimism. I'm hoping the extra 5kg of fuel will allow for more overtakes and less fuel-saving measures.

the motogp has me more hyped than the f1.

how i hope to be wrong!

Be interesting to see how the Ducati boys get on with a wingless front end. I know the downforce they provided is now engineered into the internal fairings..... but..... the Philip Island tests didn't look so promising and that was WITH wings on.

One thing is for sure: Rossi will have his hands full with his new team mate this year! I think he'll spend more time looking at his tailpipe than any other part of his bike though...

the banning of the wings certainly didn't have any impact on the design and look of the bikes at least...

i heard something about the dukes new wings creating too much downforce and hurting the front even more....

with it being enclosed now they can create even more than with little end planes. like a rear f1 wing, on the handle bars xD

the new factories, the new team/rider combo, the fact they was already so close since the ecu standardisation....was it 9 different race winners last season?

5 or 6 guys could win it this year. anybody brave enough to say merc/lewis wont win it this year?

                            i know i aint

                            edit

i guess the gp needs its own thread too

Lewis has already got this year sewn up IMO, pending mechanical gremlins. I think Merc have pace in the bank from testing, playing the wounded animal. Can't wait to see it play out...

Hope RBR and the Ferrari cars are up where they should be, fighting for wins too. I'm team LH all the way but he shouldn't be unchallenged.
