A major blast from the past!
I am not losing weight! I'm getting rid of it. I have no intention of finding it again!

Thats would still actually work right?

I mean I take it it would still fit the modern PCI-E slots in modern motherboards???

Nah PCI and PCI-E are physically different slot sizes.

Similar looking, but won't fit: image

Haven't seen one of those for a long time! 9 is a bit optimistic!

This is the card I remember from a lot of systems in the mid 90s: the S3 Trio

Yeah we had those - pairing it with a 4mb 3DFX Voodoo1 was revolutionary!

Yeah I remember Matrox Millenium as the standout 2D card of the era, then Voodoo really kickstarted the whole dedicated 3D graphics hardware world we have today.

Had a Millenium in my first PC.

Advertised as the first 3D card, although I have no idea what the 3D could be used for!

Went from there to a MAtrox Mystique to play Psygnosis F1 only to see it running on a Voodoo1 and looking way better!

Ditto! I remember the lack of OpenGL support frustrating me. Playing Quake 2 in software mode at 320x240. Those were the days! I was only 15 at the time, so couldn't afford much. I bought a second hand Voodoo 3 for about 50 notes and it BLEW MY TINY MIND.

That was the reason I bought a 3DFX card!

I've still got a Voodoo 3 card that I use from time to time. It has been many years since I last needed it but it still works in modern systems to display an image at a pinch. Can't do 3d, just basic dos stuff really.
My local hospital has a sign which reads "This way for accidents and emergencies." Haven't people in hospital got enough to worry about without looking for further misfortune?

I had a Voodoo3 3000 as well.. No idea what happened to it though, but I think I replaced it with a GeForce3 Ti200.
