  • X-Viper Modular PSU

I noticed these things in the store after my last topic they seem to be powercool rebrands and cannot find any reviews on them. Anybody got any info? Looking for a PSU for my 7970 which I will upgrade to X-Fire in a few months..

They're made by Powercool and have a single 60A 12v rail. I haven't dug up who makes them yet but the specs seem okay.

Yeah cannot dig up much on them myself other than they are powercool and bronze rated. They are cheap and get you 4 8 pin GPU adapters which is exactly what I would require.. Did find this though which isn't encouraging..

Powercool are terrible, I wouldn't bother. No point skimping on a PSU if you can afford two 7970 and a decent system tbh.

XFX/Corsair/Seasonic 600w+ Is your best bet.

Don't skimp on the psu or you will end up regretting it. Powercool are a poor quality brand. It's simply not worth taking a chance with your hardware. Stick with quality brands that you can at least find reviews on.

not 100% true that tbh dude, given that both xfx and corsair dont make psu and just re sticker other peoples. they also both use cheapo units in some of their ranges which while having the right name do not have the same quality as the rest.

Exactly some Corsair are top notch but some are terrible and re-brands of those so called cheapo units. I do want a decent brand PSU but the only ones ARIA do that have 4 8 pin PCI-E adapters are very pricey..
