  • corsair ax 850w temp replacement?

need to send my psu for RMA to corsair so I need to buy something that'll run my pc untill I get this one back. I don't really want to replace all the cables etc. Ideally I just want to replace the unit and connect all the old (current) cables to it. I don't mind if it's less than 850w as I don't need to play any games etc I currently have a msi gtx 210 so that doesn't require much power. What would you guys recommend?

AXi look nice - can't comment on reliability but they are based on Seasonic IIRC so should be pretty good. What happened to the original AX?

You can play BF3 on them and the fan doesn't spin-up - at all - if you want/can to use that as an indication of reliability/efficiency?

turned the switch on, it lit up insight and went BANG, everything works but corsair said to RMA it. Need a replacement for now but will probably end up keeping it and selling the ax when corsair returns it

The AXi series are produced by Flextronics I believe. HX and regular AX are Seasonic though.

Good point actually, I think flex did the ax 1200 too but the others are Seasonic.

Re: corsair ax 850w temp replacement?

Phone them up after getting a rma number, ask for a Advanced replacement (they ship a new PSU out first), best way to rma imo. They put a hold on your credit card until they receive the faulty one back.

The AX & AXi use different cables I think. I'm sure that I saw in a review about AX extension cables would not work with the AXi.
I have an AXi and 5+ hours of far-cry 3 didn't even turn the fan on!
