Yeah, you can turn on the "on screen display" so you can see your frames-per-second, gpu usage, vram usage while playing a game

If the gpu is nearing 100% a lot of the time then you may benefit from a 2nd card. If your vram usage is hitting 100% (2gb) then you won't benefit from a 2nd card.

as spaceboy, should be more than enough, had the following running in my old pc 350w

core i7 920
6 x 1gb ddr3 sticks.
2 x hdd
radeon 4850

I've been running mine for about 6 months now. They scale pretty well, I'm pretty happy.

Allowing that your game/program has proper crossfire support, they will still out perform most of the newer single cards apart from the very top end ones.

oh, one more thing, the PSU would be noiser at a higher load

however if you doing xfire, then probably noise is not a concern I would think

its at around 70% on APB , 40-70% on Guild wars 2 but that isnt optimized properly. Ill have to test it properly once i got BF3 reinstalled

Heres a screenshot for gpu info on skyrim all maxed out settings. Get 30-90 fps depending on where i am.



I forgot it resized the image, anyway it says 99% gpu usage

+1, 6950's don't use that much power so two on a 700w+ psu should be fine.

You should also overclock.

Just use the catalyst drivers set GPU clock to 840mhz and memory clock to 1325mhz and don't change voltage or board power. This is 99.9% safe and crash free overclock for a reasonable performance gain.
