  • Budget upgrade advice

I have a small pot of money with which to rebuild/upgrade my PC, but as this pot is limited, I am unsure where to invest it.

So my current set up is an I7 2700k with 16Gb Ram and a Nvidia 680 GTX gfx card, I have a Samsung SSD as the boot drive, there are other drives in my system but they arenít entirely relevant to this question

I have a minimum of £300 to spend, but potentially could stretch that to £500 potentially.

i am not expecting to get a 4K gaming best out of this but I am looking to arrive at a modest gaming system, so the question is would I be better off spending the money on a new gfx card or a motherboard/cpu/ram combo and stick with the existing card?

i know the ideal scenario would be to get both, but that isnít going to happen on my budget.

i am not precious about sticking with Intel/Nvidia and have been looking at the Ryzen CPUís as an option.

    any suggestions would be helpful

Assuming you have a good cooler, and a suitable motherboard, overclocking the processor to 4-4.5Ghz should achievable, then grab a better GPU.
I am not losing weight! I'm getting rid of it. I have no intention of finding it again!

Growing old is inevitable. Growing up is optional

Well that is the other thing that was a consideration in this post, my previous cooler gave up the ghost recently but it was the corsair H100 AIO unit, so i am in the market for a decent cooler as well that would provide enough to overclock the 2700k to reasonable levels.

I'd just go bk009 air cooler, with the saving get 1070 instead of 1060

no mention of case or PSU - both are core to any upgrade, will it fight and will it work!

Still my preferred Air cooler https://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials...roductId=47248 needs a good wide case though as it's tall.

That's in budget assuming you have a nice enough PSU and case, must be reasonable to have had the H100 in
