  • The costs are not too bad to be honest. Let us know what it's like next year!

Will do, gonna keep phoning them to see if they can put my install date forward with any luck someone might cancel and I'll get it sooner

      • To be honest, as they were only taking orders today and your install date is that far away, i doubt they have made any and that's already an early install date.

        • It's probably the same engineer that does installs and repairs so they're booked up with other random stuff before then, I saw someone on another forum saying 11th December install.

                • Bit of a disproportionate upload speed though.... What's it supposed to be?

                  • "up to" 20Mbps. I could have 300Mbps down and a bigger upload but didnt see the need for the extra cost.

                    • I got Virgin installed in my new place. Got 2 v6 boxes as part of the package I signed up for, but can't actually get one of them installed because the landlord won't allow holes to be drilled internally and there's no external access to the flat at the back. Meh.

                          • I "accidentally" drilled through an internal wall and the drill had a piece of coax attached to it

                            • Haha. Not worth the risk, should've seen the drama the landlord had with the Virgin Media guy. He lives 2 doors down and got nosy when he saw him. Wouldn't let him drill any additional holes to the outside wall, as there was already one neat hole made, even though it meant cutting off a cable that was already there. He actually had a nice wall plate for Virgin coaxial but it wasn't connected from outside. I get the impression he's a bit home-proud and OCD. He used to live in the house I'm in.

Looks like headline speeds are going up again. Base package now 20Mbps higher than Openreach's best FTTC offering.

We can get Virgin at our new house but they only did 18 month contracts at the time, and with congestion being so area specific I didn't want to risk it.
